An appeal is an approach or a solicitation method an organization uses to attract donors and persuade them to give financial support to a program or an initiative. To solicit gifts toward a campaign or fund's goals, an organization typically uses a variety of methods. Direct mailings, donation request letters, auctions, benefit dinners, and phone call campaigns are examples of appeals commonly used to promote gift giving.
