How to Clear a Designation from a Pledge

A designation is a way for a donor to allocate all or part of his or her contribution to a specific program or project. However, circumstances may arise which cause a donor to request that a designation be removed from a pledge. This procedure shows you how to clear (remove) a designation from a donor's pledge. 

 Use this procedure to remove a designation from a selected pledge record only. If you want to remove a designation from all pledge records associated with a fund, go to How to Remove a Designation Record from a Fund for instructions.

  1. Open the Pledges page.
  2. Find and open the donor's pledge record.
  3. In the Current Pledge field, click this button to the right of the amount:  (Edit Designations).

A list of designations currently associated with the selected pledge is displayed.

  1. For the designation you want to clear, click this button: .
  2. Click  to confirm the change.

The designation is cleared from the donor's pledge record. To indicate this, the value in the Amount field for the designation is set to $0.00.
